Welcome to Cardiff Dragons Football Club. We are Wales’ first and only LGBT football club and have been established for 6 years now. We were originally set up by a small group of gay men who lived in Cardiff and wanted the opportunity to play football in a safe and friendly environment.
Thanks to their early initiative, the Dragons has grown from strength to strength and now has over 50 members from Cardiff, the Valleys, West Wales and Bristol. We pride ourselves on being a truly equitable football club and welcome anyone of any ability. We play mixed football so men and women play alongside each other, unlike traditional football clubs. All of our competitive football teams are mixed and we’re fortunate to play in national, regional and 5-a-side tournaments that allow this. We also get involved in forming partnership with local community groups. A great example of this is our links with HMP Parc, also known as Bridgend Prison. We’ve been there a few times with both men’s and women’s teams to play fixtures against the prisoners and prison staff.
You can find us on social media so it would be great if you would connect with us. Our Facebook site provides weekly information about training times, upcoming matches and social events. We also have an active Twitter account.
So if you’re L, G, B or T and are interested in meeting some like-minded people and are keen to get fit and play a bit of football then get in touch. We’d love to hear from you! We always make sure that people feel really welcomed when they join our club so please don’t worry about your first session – we know how scary it can be.
Hopefully hear from you soon!
