The Dragons travelled down to play Bournemouth at Southampton in the latest South West League fixture.
It may sound strange but yes we played Bournemouth in Southampton in a development game. Muzz wanted to ensure that as it was a development game every squad member travelling got a minimum 60 minutes game time.
The Dragons lined up as follows:-
Mark, Muzz (Manager), Anthony (Capt), John A, Darren, Paul, Aris, Kris, Luke, Dai , Stefan.
Subs: Jason, Richie, Chris.
Both sides had corners within the first few minutes. Dai then took a knock with resulted in a cut above his nose. Richie replaced him while he was off having runing repairs. Dai being as brave as many Dragons before him wanted to return to the action asap but The Amos being over protective was not so sure but the bravery of Dai prevailed and he returned to the pitch Richie coming back off.
Bournemouth started applying a lot of pressure over the next 25 minutes and Mark in the Dragons goal was called into action on a number of occassions to enure The Dragons did not conceed.
Having said that the Dragons were keeping their shape and were battling hard. Aris and Daren were replaced by Richie and Jason. The game was being played in midfield and both sides were defending well on their 18 yard lines.
Chris making a welcome return to The Dragons after moving up to Leicester replaced Luke who was suffering from a pulled muscle.
That took us up to half time and it remained 0-0.
In the 2nd half John A replaced Mark in goal.
The game was getting a little scrappy in parts but both sides were battling hard.
John A made a couple of fine stops to keep The Dragons in the game. Anthony then made a vital goal line clearance.
Muzz then replaced Dai and Kris who had both battled hard all game with Aris & Luke. It was not long after this that Bournemoth scored the what turned out to be the only goal of the game from a ball played into The Dragons box that was headed on into the Dragons goal giving John A no chance.
The final change of the game was Daren coming back on to replace Richie.
The Dragons were not with out there chances in the last quater of the game with a fine ball being played by Stefan onto Mark whos shot went just over bar.
As already stated in a scrappy game it was never going to be The Dragons day they never gave up which is very encouraging but the goals dried up today.
Final score 1-0 Bournemouth.
The management team would like to thank everybody for making the trip to Southampton and to Bournemouth for there hospitality. Thank you to Jeremy for his support on the day and to Jason and Aris for running the line today.
