The GFSN League
In the middle of the 1990’s, a number of LGBT-friendly football clubs were forming across the United Kingdom, primarily to offer people in their local region the opportunity to play football in a welcoming and friendly environment.
Over the last 15 years, LGBT-friendly football has morphed into something much bigger – a national football league with 12 teams, 4 associate teams, and 3 more LGBT-friendly clubs around the UK.
The GFSN League is unique – as far as we’re aware, we’re the only amateur national league that spans the length and breadth of the UK.
With very little funding or sponsorship, playing in a national league demands great commitment from the estimated 280 players who regularly take part in the league and cup throughout the season.
But the GFSN League is not just a football league – it’s much more then that. Together with the Gay Football Supporters Network, it serves as a social network for football players, managers, and fans alike.
With a mixed sex policy and rolling substitutes, the league is proud to have a diverse range of players who embrace the social and friendly aspect of the league.
