Cardiff Dragons 0 – 12 Birmingham Blaze

Our second competitive match saw us up against a very strong and experienced Blaze side who ran out deserved 12-0 winners on the day.

With the game taking place on astroturf, a totally different surface from the previous week, it took us time to adapt due to inexperience and this together with some excellent passing and finishing from a very strong Blaze saw us 3-0 down after 15 minutes.

We slowly got more into the game though, however Blaze stepped on the gas in the final few minutes of the half to add 4 more well taken goals.

The second half was much more encouraging as we got ourselves more into the game and started to pass the ball better. Everone had a run out but Blaze were always a threat and added 5 more goals to complete a comprehensive victory.

Although the scoreline was disappointing, myself and Dave Amos could not fault the effort and attitude of everyone on the day. We are a team both in victory and defeat and will learn a lot from one of the best and most experienced GFSN teams, who have and will be more than a match for many other teams as they have proved already this season.

We have the skill and positive attitude as we have shown over the first two matches so will only become stronger as we train and gain experience as we play more matches.

Finally thanks to David Keith and Johnny of the Blaze for refereeing on the day and to the supporters of both teams.
